Mitch is an applied climatologist and data visualization expert, specializing in operational meteorology, machine learning algorithms, and nature-based solutions. With distinction, he graduated from the University of Victoria (BSc. in Earth Systems) and the University of Otago (MSc. in Applied Climatology). One of his notable achievements includes developing a novel machine learning algorithm to predict frosts in the complex terrain of Central Otago, New Zealand. Mitch is currently completing the Applied Data Science program through MIT, with the intention of applying those learnings to the fields of regenerative agriculture, and operational meteorology. Mitch is a product manager at Verge Permaculture, where he manages the Passive Solar Greenhouse Course, Essential Rainwater Harvesting Course, and Contour Map Generator. Skilled in Google Earth Pro and LiDAR data acquisition, he has further created training courses for regenerative farm and permaculture design. Outside of work, Mitch can be found at his small farm, Moose's Groovy Grove, where he is building systems for an animal-integrated fruit orchard. He enjoys reading, gardening, playing music, and almost every activity under the sun in his spare time. Mitch's background in applied climatology, machine learning, data visualization, and operational meteorology, combined with his permaculture design expertise, positions him well to drive insights and innovation in various fields, including (but not limited to): agriculture, Renewable Energies, environmental management, urban planning, insurance, climate change research, and education and training.
